My pottery is entirely hand made – for my plates, I roll them by hand, shape them by hand and paint them by hand. Each one is totally unique.

Saggar: first I created and bisque fired a rounded Saggar: first I created and bisque fired a rounded lidded vessel I made, ready for the Saggar workshop. At the workshop I rolled fresh clay for wrapping the piece in, and laid all of my copper filings, cobalt, rope, banana skins, seaweed etc all around and on top of it. Then sealed the fresh clay around it and into the gas fired Raku style kiln it went. After cooling I broke the outer clay away to reveal the soft muted colours which the clay absorbed during the second firing. I rubbed some beeswax furniture polish into the finished piece. I love it! #youcanmakeit #saggarfired #raku #ilovepottery #somethingdifferent #australianmade
