Nicola Fleming
Made entirely by hand, the clay was rolled and shaped so that each plate is totally unique. After drying for about a week, the plate is then bisque fired at over 1200 degrees for around 8 hours. The next stage is the top glazing, blending and layering to mimic the waves of the Sunshine Coast. The top glaze producees a shiny glaze which seals it and makes it safe to eat off. The final firing is done for another 8 hours at over 1200 degrees, and taaa daaaa! The finished product emerges. It’s always a surprise as some of the glazes that I use change colour during firing!
